River City Brass Band concerts are pleasing to a very wide spectrum of the concert-going public, with performances presented in a relaxed, informal and entertaining style. A popular feature of RCBB concerts are conductor Denis Colwell's witty remarks - informing and educating the audience and enriching the concert experience. The variety of musical styles presented on a typical River City Brass Band concert range from classical and opera to familiar favorites from the Broadway stage, the silver screen, the big band era, folk traditions and more.
The River City Brass Band takes a great deal of pride in preserving and enriching its musical heritage by placing particular emphasis on the performance of music by American composers, and through the performance of new works, including some commissioned by the RCBB.
In its relatively short history, the River City Brass Band has become an important player on the musical scene,
setting toes to tapping and audiences to smiling throughout the nation.

Terrence Wilson was born on November 6, 1975 in the Bronx. His interest in classical music was sparked at age 8 when he discovered by chance a New York classical radio station. Subsequently, whenever Wilson had a piano available to him, he seized the opportunity to perform, astonishing his teachers and family with the ease with which he could play pieces he heard on the radio or on recordings.
At age 9, Wilson began lessons at a neighborhood community school, where he acquired his first formal piano teacher. At 11, he won a Brooklyn Arts and Culture Appreciation Competition. In 1989, he began study with his present teacher, Ms. Yoheved Kaplinsky. That same year, he entered the Preparatory Division of the Manhattan School of Music and the Professional Children's School. At The Juilliard School, he received the prestigious Sony ES Award for Musical Excellence.

.asp Judy Carmichael is one of a handful of musicians who approach jazz from a perspective of its entire history. Choosing to study jazz piano from its early roots on, she explores the music deeply, infusing it with a "fresh, dynamic interpretation of her own" (Washington Post ). The National Endowment for the Arts rewarded Carmichael's knowledge of jazz piano with a major grant to present early jazz greats on film and to discuss the history and development of jazz piano with college students across the country.
In addition, Judy has recorded and tours frequently with her trio (Mike Hashim on saxophone and Chris Flory on guitar) and her quintet (Mike Hashim, Chris Flory, and Joel Helleny on trombone and Ed Ornowski on drums).
